a poem for one of my favorite guys because he told me once he doesn’t like looking at the stars at night.

Dear friend,

Did you get to see the pictures of the Universe that NASA released today? They’re absolutely stunning and a reminder of just how small we are and how vast a space we get to fill.

My favorite image is the one below — the one that shows the gorgeous mess that comes with a star birth. Isn’t it stunning?

It inspired me to write a quick little poem for one of my favorite guys because he told me once he doesn’t like looking at the stars at night.

You don’t have to be afraid of home, my love.

there are people who are afraid 
to look at the night sky
I know
because they tell me so

I know the darkness of the universe can be scary
I know it can make you feel small 

but know that 
the universe only looks dark 
because it’s vast 
growing to make room for you 

you aren’t in it 
you are it 

we all are
